Troubleshooting

The Last Caretaker Console Commands: Is There a Cheat Menu?

Short answer: There are no official console commands or cheats. Channel37’s only hidden menu is the -ea launch option, which adds three fixes to the pause menu: Relocate boat, Relocate character and Unlock skill items. Cheat menus come from community mods that Channel37 does not support.

Everything on this page comes from Channel37’s support page (A), except the community mod, which is a single video and marked C.

Console Commands and the -ea Menu

Does The Last Caretaker have console commands or cheat codes?

No. Channel37 gives no console-command or cheat list. The only extra menu it documents is an experimental Early Access menu that you switch on with the -ea launch option, and it holds three fixes, not cheats.

How do you open the -ea menu?

In Steam, right-click The Last Caretaker, open Properties and type -ea under Launch Options. After you start the game, the pause menu has a new Early Access option with Relocate boat, Relocate character and Unlock skill items. Back up your saves before you use it.

Relocate boat is for a boat that is stuck, sinking or flying away. Relocate character is for a Caretaker who is stuck or floating. Unlock skill items is for a skill you have unlocked that does not show up in the build menu.

Can you unlock all skills with a command?

Not officially. Unlock skill items in the -ea menu only restores items for skills you have already unlocked; it does not unlock new ones.

Cheat Mods and Your Save

Is there a dev menu mod?

Community mods add the cheat menu players look for: one video shows a Dev Menu mod, installed with a mod loader, that spawns items and refills power and fuel. Channel37 does not support it.

Player reports, not yet verified (C) · Checked 2026-10-24 · Sources: Zeisix video, February 14, 2026: installing a community Dev Menu mod

Channel37 says it supports modders but cannot help with mods or third-party tools during Early Access. Mods can crash the game and corrupt saves, especially when a roadmap update comes out, and some damage a save for good. Before you contact support, remove them, including the files they added in AppData, and verify the game files in Steam.

Where is the save file, so you can back it up first?

On Windows, the save folder is %localAppData%\Voyage\Saved\SaveGames\<Steam ID>. For Linux and Steam Deck, locate compatdata/1783560 in the Steam library, then the corresponding Voyage/Saved/SaveGames/<Steam ID> folder within it. The reviewed notes do not specify the complete Linux prefix path.

Automatic backups are in the sibling SaveGameBackups folder. The game retains the latest 3 automatic backups per slot and provides 8 manual save slots, numbered 0–7.

How do you restore a save if something breaks?

Restore a backup by copying it into SaveGames and removing the date-and-time part of its filename. Preserve your existing files first.
