Restoration Seed in The Last Caretaker: What It Is and Why the Quest Won’t Finish
Short answer: "Claim a Restoration Seed" is the last step of three committee quests: send something to orbit, then collect the tree seeds from the reward pod. Pears for The Forbidden Fruit bring Orchard and often Elysium Birch seeds, a cave painting sample for Before the Archives an Elysium Cherry Seed, and a HoloMemory for Echoes for Orbit an Elysium Aleppo Pine Seed. Put the cargo in the rocket’s payload hold, launch with a human aboard and sail to the pod near Exodus. Since Update 6, picking those seeds up does not complete the step; it is a bug, Channel37 support says the next patch fixes it, and then one more rocket with pears finishes the quest.
Game version: Early Access, Update 6 (October 19, 2026)
What a Restoration Seed Is
What is a Restoration Seed?
It is the reward three committee quests ask you to "claim" from the pod that comes back after a rocket launch. In Update 6 the pod holds ordinary tree seeds instead: Orchard Seeds, which grow pear trees, Elysium Birch Seeds or an Elysium Cherry Seed. You can plant them, but picking them up does not count as claiming the Restoration Seed.

Which quests give a Restoration Seed?
The Forbidden Fruit, for Habitat Care: send pears, and the pod brings Orchard Seeds and often Elysium Birch Seeds. Before the Archives, for Culture & Memory: send a cave painting sample, and you get an Elysium Cherry Seed. Echoes for Orbit, for Cognitive Resilience: send a HoloMemory sample, and you get an Elysium Aleppo Pine Seed. Each quest gives 500 XP and 10 Enhancer Points.
Only a sample you have not sent before earns a seed; sending the same HoloMemory or cave painting again gives nothing more.

Sending Cargo and Claiming the Pod
How do you send pears or samples to space?
Put the pears or the sample in the payload hold at the back of the rocket capsule, not on the floor, and launch with at least one human aboard: pears on their own do not fly. The first step, sending the cargo to orbit, then ticks off.

Where does the reward pod land?
The reward pod lands near Exodus Station a few minutes after the rocket comes back. Sail out to it before it sinks and take everything inside.
When "Claim a Restoration Seed" Won’t Complete
Why won’t "claim a Restoration Seed" complete?
Since Update 6, picking those seeds up does not tick off "Claim a Restoration Seed" in The Forbidden Fruit, Before the Archives or Echoes for Orbit, however many pears, humans or rockets you send. It is a bug, not something you are doing wrong.
Channel37 support has told players that the next public patch fixes it. After that patch, send one more rocket with pears and claim the new pod; that completes the quest.

What can you do until it is fixed?
Plant the seeds anyway: they grow on Elysium Beds whether or not the quest ticks off. Keep a save from just before a launch, so you can try again after the patch without losing more pears.
If a tree stops growing and says it needs more space, dismantle it: you get the seed and its fruit back, and you can plant it somewhere roomier.
