The Last Caretaker Habitat Care Committee: The Four Members, Assigning Them and Seats of Care

Short answer: To fill the Habitat Care committee, grow a Room Supervisor, a Health Assistant, a Teacher and a Lab Technician, each 18 or older, and launch them into space. You don’t assign them by hand: each one takes its seat by itself, often only on the next real-world day, so a count stuck at 0/4 or 1/4 usually just needs time. With all four seated, Seats of Care sends you back to the Council of Humanity.

Game version: Early Access, Update 6; committees came with Update 03 (March 18, 2026)

The Four Members

What are the four Habitat Care committee members?

A Room Supervisor, a Health Assistant, a Teacher and a Lab Technician, one of each, and every one of them aged 18 or more. Seats of Care asks for this committee before any other.

Do humans you launched earlier count?

Yes. Humans who are already in space count, so a Room Supervisor or a Teacher you launched weeks ago takes its seat by itself. Check which of the four you already have up there and grow only the missing ones.

What if the rack grows the wrong profession?

Tracking a profession on the rack does not promise it: players aiming for a Lab Technician have been given a Room Supervisor instead. Save before you grow each one, look at what comes out of the pod, and reload and change the food or memories if it is wrong.

Assigning Habitat Care Members

How do you assign Habitat Care members?

You don’t, at least not by hand. There is no button or terminal for it: launch a human with one of the four professions, and once it is old enough the game puts it in its seat on its own.

Why is the committee stuck at 0/4 or 1/4?

Seats fill on a real-world clock: they are often taken by the next day, sometimes only after two or three days; the count can also rise one seat at a time, so 1/4 or 2/4 is normal along the way.

Age is the other hold-up. A seat takes only a human of 18 or more, and humans keep ageing in space, so one you launched at 17 joins once it turns 18 up there.

All four are seated, but the quest still says to form the committee

In June 2026 the quest could keep asking you to form the committee while “Assign Habitat Care members” was already ticked. A game update on June 29 fixed it in some games. If it happens to you, reload, give it a real-world day and go back to the Council.

Seats of Care and What Comes Next

What is the Seats of Care quest?

It is the main-story quest straight after The Council of Humanity, with three tasks: form the Habitat Care committee, get its four members assigned, then go back to the Council of Humanity, where the committee gives you your next job.

Where is the “Habitat Care Committee Authorization Required” door?

On a locked door inside the Courier Sieve Node Facility. It is not a key or a level check: the door belongs to the Habitat Care quest True Choices, and its lock opens by itself while that quest is running.
