Is The Last Caretaker Multiplayer? Co-op Status and What Channel37 Has Said

No. The Last Caretaker is a single-player game, and Channel37 has not announced a multiplayer or co-op mode. In October 2025 its community manager said the team was looking into ways to add some form of multiplayer in the future, but no mode or date has been announced, and the official roadmap to 1.0 does not list one.

What Channel37 Has Said

  1. Before Early Access: not at launch, not ruled out

    Channel37's community manager Jack wrote that co-op would not be available at launch, that the team had received a lot of requests for it, and that it was not ruling co-op out.

  2. Looking into some form of multiplayer

    Jack wrote that the game was releasing as a single-player experience and that, after hearing from the community, the team was looking into ways to add some form of multiplayer in the future.

  3. Update 03 added helpers, not players

    Update 03, Curiosity Wakes, added support gameplay so you are not on your own: the Sweetheart grenade, a craftable Sweetheart item and a friendly swarm type. These are in-game helpers, not other players.

  4. Not on the roadmap to 1.0

    The official roadmap shows seven shipped updates, Update 6 and three classified updates before 1.0 in spring 2027. None of its cards announces a multiplayer or co-op mode.

  5. The 1.0 announcement covers PC and Xbox only

    Version 1.0 is planned for spring 2027 on PC, with an Xbox release playable from day one on Xbox Game Pass. The announcement does not mention multiplayer.

Playing Solo in the Meantime
