The Last Caretaker North Bastion Guide: Getting There, the Cold and the Leadership Module
Game version: Update 6 (Early Access 0.10.0.653173); player reports from the public beta (October 9–18) and release day
North Bastion is the frozen mountain region Update 6 added on October 19, 2026. You reach it through the Transfer Gate at the Lazarus Complex, the main quest continues there, and the cold slows the Caretaker down and wears down its health, so plan heat first. The module players get stuck on most, Leadership, is in a hidden room off the meeting room: crouch and check beneath the left-hand desks for a red button beside a green glowstick, then press E to open the wall behind the round table.
What North Bastion is, the route and the cold are from Channel37's October 19 release announcement and patch notes (A). The Leadership module, scanning and what to bring are cross-checked: players in separate Steam threads say the same thing (B). Single-player tips are labeled as player reports.
The picture at the top shows a MOSES sea outpost from the press kit, not North Bastion; Channel37 has not released a press screenshot of North Bastion yet.
How to Get to North Bastion
The first active Transfer Gate links the Lazarus Complex with North Bastion. Once it is open, Recall on its console takes you back without paying for another crossing, and vehicles can come through.

Opening the Gate takes a quest, a repair and a lot of power; the Transfer Gate guide walks through it step by step.
What Is in North Bastion
North Bastion is a frozen mountain region around one of the biggest facilities in the game: a dock, a hangar, a central spire, industrial and utility areas, interiors, tunnels and frozen rooms, with records, loot and enemies. The cold also limits which creatures live there.

The main quest continues in North Bastion. A reconstruction quest sequence there carries on Anna's story with new records, voice-over and Permanent Memories, and Anna's interactions stay available after the storyline.

The Cold: Plan Heat First
In deep cold the Caretaker moves more slowly and loses health, and a temperature readout appears on the HUD. Some doorways are blocked by ice that you melt with heat or break open.

Where Is the Leadership Module?
The Leadership module is in a hidden room off the meeting room. Crouch and look under the desks on the left, in front of the round table: one has a red button, with a green glowstick beside it and a broken robot on the floor pointing at it. Press E on the button (one player clicked it with the left mouse button first and nothing happened), and the gaps in the far wall behind the round table open into the hidden room.

(October 18–19, 2026)
Inside the complex the story has you track down a set of modules, and you scan them rather than pick them up. Two players in one thread first tried to pick them up, and a player in another thread calls them the scannable modules.

What to Bring
You do not need to bring much. One Steam guide opens with a long packing list for an easy start, but four other players in the same thread say there is so much to salvage that little is needed: one went through with an empty inventory and had no trouble, and another took one box of supplies and came back with nine or ten.

More Tips from Players

The Empathy module is said to be at the back of the Doctor's Office. The way in is through the office itself; melting the ice on that door with a room heater did not work for the player who found it.

One player who flew past it several times saw what looks like a locked vent at the top right and says it seems empty inside.
