The Last Caretaker Update 6 Patch Notes: Every Change in Plain Words
Game version: Update 6 (Early Access 0.10.0.653173)
Update 6, The Jump, came out on October 19, 2026 as build 0.10.0.653173. It switches on the Transfer Gate at the Lazarus Complex, opens the frozen North Bastion region and turns cold into a survival system with heaters, a Boiler and a Methane Extractor. It also changes a few things in bases you already have: solar panels count at half output while a base catches up, wind turbines stop working in water, things on your back now add to carry weight, and the UV Light skill costs 2 points. Below is every change from Channel37's notes in our own words, with what it means for you.
Every line on this page is official (A): Channel37's full patch notes for build 0.10.0.653173 and its release announcement, both October 19, 2026. We reworded them and grouped them; the notes themselves are linked below. The release date, the roadmap and earlier updates are on the Update 6 release date page.
What Changes for Your Base
- Machines catch up much faster after you return to a base, and solar panels count at half their output during that catch-up.
- Bases you leave now keep producing, but a solar-only base banks less while you are away than it would with you standing next to it. Solar panel guide.
- Wind turbines no longer work in water.
- Any turbine you placed in the sea stops producing; move it onto a deck or the shore. Power sources.
- Things stowed on your back now add to carry weight, you have to stand closer to stow something, and Felis units can be stowed too.
- A barrel or heater on your back now slows you down like anything else you carry. Backpack guide.
- The UV Light skill costs 2 skill points instead of 3.
- One point cheaper. Our Skill Planner does not list this skill's cost yet. Skill Planner.
- Modules now share resources by percentage instead of by fixed amounts.
- Check any split you set up between machines after you update. Power grid setup.
- A Fabricator no longer drains power while it is missing parts, and it finishes items with a shorter delay.
- A Fabricator waiting for parts stops eating your stored power. Power Grid Calculator.
- Copper Scraps take 3 seconds to recycle instead of 10. The Recycler no longer recycles things stowed on your back, and the Rhino Dismantler can no longer take apart Gyrocopter and JetSki containers.
- Copper recycling is about three times faster, and gear on your back is safe near a Recycler. Dismantle Tool guide.
- Eden tiles now give back the right item and amount when you dismantle them.
- Dismantling Eden tiles now gives back what you expect. Project Eden guide.
- The release announcement lists a fix for the Recovery Grinder's electricity use; the patch notes describe it as a power-use fix for the dumpster.
- If your grinder's power draw looked wrong, check it again after updating. Recovery Grinder guide.
- Health injectors are a little less effective. Sharks attack in melee again, sea mines deal damage again, and enemies find you from farther away.
- Fights at sea hit harder than in Update 5.5, so carry a few more injectors. Combat guide.
- Boat switches now control only the lights, and the drone's light is stronger against the night swarm.
- A boat switch that used to do more now only works the lights.

New Content and Features
- The arch at the Lazarus Complex works as a Transfer Gate (Project Crossing), and its first route leads to North Bastion. Transfer Gate guide.
- North Bastion, a snowy mountain region around a large complex, where the main quest continues.
- Cold now hurts and slows you, and a temperature readout appears on the HUD in the cold. Some doorways are blocked by ice you melt or smash. Heating guide.
- Heating modules to build: a small, a medium and a large heater, plus a Boiler. Your Flamethrower and Flame Pistol now work as heat sources too. Heating guide.
- The Methane Extractor, a new module, plus methane canisters you use once. Methane and fuel guide.
- A reconstruction quest sequence in North Bastion continues Anna's story, adds Permanent Memories and keeps Anna's interactions and dialogue after the storyline. Quest guide.
- New skills in the skill tree. Skill Planner.
- You can add and delete your own world map markers, and zooming on the map and the Grid Scanner follows your cursor. Map locations.
- While you place a module, its sockets show which resource it uses and which way it flows. The Fabricator and build menus have a separate Quest category, and door frames can now take builds. Dismantling and repairing are interrupted less often, and recyclable items list their recycling time and power use.
- Crouch on a ladder to slide down it. The Gyrocopter steers and climbs better and can be switched off on water. Salvage Gyro guide.
- The options menu gains an Accessibility tab holding the Motion Comfort settings, and HDR peak brightness goes up to 4000 nits.
- Boat tables can now be dismantled, the Horn module shows its durability, the damage indicator is improved, the ammo text is brighter, and Restack only appears for items that stack.
